ABSTRACT

The research carried out on “The impact of Agricultural modernization on economic development” aimed at establishing the relationship between agricultural modernization and economic development in Uganda. The focus of the research also analyzed the modernization techniques in agriculture and how this would enhance and improve the lives of poor households. The investigation also based on the metrics relevant to economic development and the effective mechanisms required in establishing a procedural technique reflecting better agricultural management. Agricultural modernization is not only the source of economic development of the Ugandan economy, but also the inevitable choice of the sustainable development of the society. How to promote country economic development by agricultural modernization is one of the hot topics. The significance of improved agricultural approach as well as aided system of agricultural modernization has been analyzed in chapter 4. The researcher also applied the statistical data of empirical research in order to define and make relevant summaries from the data factors. The method used to carry out the research was based on exploratory approach and this involved using descriptive survey as an ideal method of getting relevant information that involves agricultural modernization and economic development. The sampling was by randomized means and this was aided by differences in the respondents’ classes. The instruments used in the research varied according to both the respondents’ age and level of education. The questionnaires were used to get information from an informed class of respondents while oral interviews focused on both the children and the uneducated households. The findings of the study showed that agricultural modernization is an important factor in economic development. The research also found out that poverty can be reduced through improved farming techniques and this is as well important in ensuring that farmers are provided with relevant information regarding new farming practices. Chapter 5 provides a comprehensive conclusion of the relevant agricultural modernization factors and it also give the relevant recommendations from the study.
